RIYADH 28 December 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh hosted the ASEAN Family Carnival on 07 December 2018.
Embassy officers, staff and their families, led by Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan V. Alonto joined their counterparts from the diplomatic missions of other ASEAN-member countries in Riyadh namely, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam in celebrating the event.
Each participating ASEAN mission set up a booth where they served dishes and drinks from their respective countries to be shared during the celebration. The ASEAN missions also prepared a game from their respective countries to be participated in by their ASEAN counterparts.
The Embassy organized the Filipino games Magtanim ay Di’Biro for adult participants, and Pukpok Palayok (Break the Pot) for children.
The ASEAN Family Carnival was an activity planned by the ASEAN Riyadh Committee (ARC), which is composed of the Ambassadors and Heads of Post of the Diplomatic Missions of ASEAN member states in Riyadh. Every year, the ARC organizes activities for the ASEAN Embassies in Riyadh, including a family-oriented event towards the end of the year.
The last ASEAN family event was hosted by Indonesia in November 2017. The Philippines will be taking over the chairmanship of the ARC in 2019 from current chair Myanmar. END
