PH Embassy in Yangon Conducts Continuing Professional Development Training for Filipino Teachers

YANGON 03 January 2019 — With the theme "Roles of Assessment in the 21st Century Teaching and Learning," the Philippine Embassy in Yangon conducted its first Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training for Filipino teachers on 08-09 December 2018 at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jan Michael Gomez stated that the Embassy, in coordination with the Philippine Normal University (PNU), organized this event in an effort to support the training of Filipino teachers in Myanmar and to help them understand the importance of high quality assessment tools in capturing students' holistic development, while earning CPD credit points.

The four-day blended training program, attended by 32 Filipino teachers, was composed of two-day face-to-face sessions held on 08-09 December 2018 and two-day online sessions held on 15-16 December 2018.

The program was conducted by Deputy Dean Dr. Rosario M. Belmi and Dean Maria Linda U. Balagtas from the College of Flexible Learning and ePNU of the PNU.

Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Stephanie Alexis Cruz stated that this will be the first of many more projects to be undertaken by the Embassy to help in the development of Filipino professionals in Myanmar. END
