PH Embassy in Kuwait Repatriates 34 OFWs under Assisted Voluntary Repatriation Program

KUWAIT 01 November 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has successfully repatriated a group of 34 undocumented overseas (OFWs) on 31 October 2018.

The said repatriates are part of Post’s Assisted Voluntary Repatriation Program (AVRP), a joint program of the Embassy and the Illegal Residency Monitoring and Immigration Departments of Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, AVRP aims to repatriate OFWs who were charged with absconding/expired visa cases at the Immigration Department, without having to be detained.

“I would like to thank the Kuwait government for the invaluable support and assistance they have provided the Embassy and I would also like to thank the indefatigable Officer and staff of the Philippine Embassy for their dedication in making the AVRP successful.” Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondotsaid in a statement.

The 34 OFWs were in addition to 71 OFWs repatriated last 31 July and in October 2018.

Also included in the repatriation are two OFWs with medical cases. Both cases were assisted and monitored by Embassy’s Assistance to Nationals Unit - Medical Response Team (ATNU-MRT). END
