PH Hands Over ASEAN Committee Chairmanship in Brazil to Malaysia

BRASILIA 11 January 2019 — Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro handed over the chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB) to Malaysian Ambassador Lin Juay Jin on 06 December 2018 in a ceremony held during the ACB’ seventh meeting of the year and the fourth convened under the Philippines’ chairmanship.

Ambassador Mauro, who took over the chairmanship of the ACB in July, achieved many milestones during the six months that the Philippines was chair of the organization. These include arranging a meeting with the Brazilian Minister of External Relations Aloysio Nunes, and the 51st anniversary celebration of ASEAN.

The Philippine chairmanship of the ACB also served as an opportunity for the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia to feature the unique Filipino culture and cuisine to its ASEAN neighbors. END
