WASHINGTON 15 January 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. officially launched QLess—a cloud-based electronic queue management system that enables its consular clients to register and queue in for passport, visa, civil registration, documents notarization, dual citizenship applications, and other consular services offered by the Embassy—on 20 December 2018.

In a live demonstration of the new system, Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez noted that QLess replaces physical lines and waiting rooms with virtual, mobile lines. Applicants may roam freely while waiting wherever and however they want. QLess alerts them on their mobile phone when their turn is approaching.

Using the system, applicants may visit the Embassy website to view waiting times, schedule appointments at least a week in advance, or join a virtual queue remotely via the website, on-site kiosk or mobile phone.

“The introduction of the system is part of the Embassy’s continuing endeavor to improve and enhance the delivery of frontline services to its clients,” Ambassador Romualdez said.

He added that other Philippine foreign service posts may wish to adopt the system after its efficiency and usefulness have been tested after a month.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr., who was present to witness the launching, congratulated the Ambassador and lauded the Embassy for “its unwavering commitment to help fulfill President Rodrigo Duterte’s pledge to improve the lives of ordinary Filipinos by making public services more convenient and accessible.”
