PH Embassy in Nairobi Commemorates Rizal Day

NAIROBI 31 December 2018 — With this year’s theme, “Rizal 2018: Wisdom and Compassion, Foundation of Freedom and Progressive Action”, the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi held a simple ceremony in observance of the 122nd Anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal with a flower offering ceremony at the Embassy Chancery on 27 December 2018.
On behalf of Ambassador Uriel Norman R. Garibay, Chargé d’ Affaires Francis Maynard S. Maleon highlighted the sacrifices, patriotism and greatness of Dr. Rizal. He also discussed the significant contribution of the Filipino national to society that shaped the country’s history. He encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from Rizal’s virtues and bring pride to the Philippines.
The program ended with the recital of Dr. Rizal’s last poem, “Ang Huling Paalam (Mi Ultimo Adios)” by the personnel of the Philippine Embassy. END
