PH Ambassador Highlights Martyrdom, Tolerance in Rizal Day in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI 31 December 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Knights of Rizal-Emarat Abu Dhabi Chapter (KOR-EADC), held a flag ceremony and floral offering to commemorate the 122nd anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at the Embassy grounds on 30 December 2018.
Elaborating on the martyrdom of Dr. Rizal, Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Hjayceelyn M. Quintana spoke of the importance of exercising tolerance towards people who do not share one’s beliefs.
“As UAE ushers in 2019 as Year of Tolerance, we draw lessons on the necessity of mutual respect and understanding to preserve harmony in our society,” Ambassador Quintana added.
Other activities held on the day were the recitation of the Rizalist Code of Ethics, Rizalian Oath, and Pledge of the Flag, fraternal sign, and group singing.
Also in attendance were representatives and students of Philippine schools in Abu Dhabi, media representative, and Embassy personnel. END
