XIAMEN 31 December 2018 — Consul General to Xiamen Julius Caesar A. Flores turned over the art work entitled “Rizal’s Many Great Inspirations” to Jinjiang City Museum to commemorate the 122nd anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal’s and as part of the Consulate General’s cultural diplomacy program for 2018 on 28 December 2018.
Measuring 4 feet by 8 feet, with oil on canvas as medium, the art work was done by Filipino visual artist Irineo “Rene” San Agustin Robles.
The donation was made possible through the auspices of Philippine Councilors League national president Luis “Chavit” Singson.
Jinjiang City Museum has a special Rizal corner showcasing the Filipino national hero’s ancestral roots and other art works. In previous years to enhance the museum’s Rizal corner, the Consulate General donated a Rizal bust, photo memorabilia, and a painting.
The only Rizal Park in the Asia-Pacific region sits on a five-hectare complex in Jinjiang City as a tribute to the national hero and his ancestral roots, it serves as a lasting symbol of the meaningful and deep historical and kinship ties between Fujian Province and the Philippines. END
