PH Embassy in Brunei Holds 1st ASEAN Friendship Bowling Game

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 29 January 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, led by Chargé d’ Affaires (CDA) Pete Raymond V. Delfin, hosted the First ASEAN Friendship Bowling Game at the Grand Seria Bowling Complex in Seria, Brunei Darussalam on 20 January 2019.

The Friendship Bowling Game aims to further strengthen the existing cordial relations between the Philippines and Brunei as well as all ASEAN member countries. The Friendship Bowling Game was participated by the heads of missions of the ASEAN member countries in Brunei, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Deputy Permanent Secretary Pg Haji Saiful Rizal bin Pg Haji Razali.

In his message, CDA Delfin thanked all the participants for joining the bowling game, and highlighted the significance of events such as this that foster camaraderie among the members of the ASEAN community.

A ceremonial roll-off led by Deputy Permanent Secretary Pg Haji Saiful and the ASEAN heads of missions officially commenced the friendly competition. There were a total of 19 teams composed of four members from the different ASEAN missions.

The top prize for Men’s Individual Player Category went to Myanmar Ambassador to Brunei U Htin Lynn, while the Ladies Individual Player Category was bagged by Nazlyn Binti Rosli, spouse of Khairul Azam Bin Bani of the Malaysian Embassy.

In the team category, the team led by Malaysian Minister Counsellor Khairul Azam Bin Bani, and team members, Diane Myra Elomia (Philippines), Fatoni Solahudin Ambary (Indonesia), and Muhammad Nuh bin Kamaludin (Brunei Ministry of Foreign Affairs) won first place. Teams received a medal and a token.

In his closing message, CDA Delfin stated that the activity evidently reflected the close relations and friendly cooperation among the ASEAN missions in Brunei, which truly signifies the spirit of ASEAN as one community.

The bowling game was followed by a fellowship lunch, where all the participants enjoyed more time connecting with each other. END
