CANBERRA 29 January 2019 – The Philippine Cultural Society (PCS) led the celebration of Sinulog, the annual feast honoring the Child Jesus, in Australia’s capital city on 20 January 2019.

A mass in honor of this festival was celebrated by Father Loi Viovicente at Saint Monica’s Church in Evatt, followed by a cultural program in Hall Pavilion.

Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega commended the PCS for its programs and activities to promote Philippine cultural tradition and heritage. She recalled the significance of Sinulog as a solemn procession of faith and thanksgiving to kick-off the new year.

Filipinos in Australia join the rest of kababayan all over the world in celebrating the Sinulog Festival, which has historically been an important part of Filipino Catholic faith. END
