Agana Consular

16 January 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam recently concluded its first mobile consular outreach program in Chuuk and Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) since it acquired consular jurisdiction over the island state following the closure of the Philippine Embassy in Koror, Palau in 2012.

 


The mobile consular team composed of Consul Maria Paz Cortes, Mr. Emmanuel Garcia, Ms. Ivy Tongco, and Ms. Maria Liza Manarin, rendered consular services for Filipinos in Chuuk from January 8 to 9 at the Truk Stop Hotel in Weno, Chuuk. 

 

The consular outreach mission in Pohnpei was conducted from January 11 to January 13 at the office of Philippine Honorary Consul in FSM Merlynn Abello-Alfonso.

A total of 304 services were rendered by the team over the five-day consular outreach.  These include the processing of 248 e-Passport applications, civil registration and notarials, authentication and contract verification.

 

The Consulate is grateful for the assistance extended by Consul Abello-Alfonso to the consular team as well as for the support and cooperation of the Filipino organizations in both Chuuk and Pohnpei.  In Chuuk, the consular team was assisted by the Filipino organization Kapatiran ng mga Pilipino sa Isla ng Truk (KAPIT), headed by its president, Mr. Dudley Jordan, while in Pohnpei, the team was assisted by Consul Abello-Alfonso and her staff and by the United Filipino Community in Pohnpei (UFCP) headed by Mr. Russel Figueras.  END
