PH Consulate General Pushes for Plastic Reduction, Reuse Campaign in HK

HONG KONG 29 January 2019 – The Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong lent its support to the plastic reduction, reuse and recycling campaign organized by the Hong Kong Central and Western Mid-Levels Owners Association (CWMOA) in Hong Kong’s Central District on 19 January 2019

Deputy Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan attended the campaign’s closing ceremony at the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sai Ying Pun, which echoed the Hong Kong government’s policy to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic especially in shops and restaurants that use a large volume of plastic in their daily operations. 

The event, spearheaded by CWMOA Chair Esther Wong, was attended by officials of the Hong Kong government including Secretary of Environment K. S. Wong, Legislative Councillor Charles Mok, Central and Western District Councillor Cheng Lai King, and Assistant Director of Environmental Protection Department Kenneth Chan. 

The Association conducted information campaigns and surveys on various shops and restaurants in Hong Kong.

Deputy Consul General Aguilar-Usudan also joined Filipino household service workers (HSWs) who participated in the “Save the Environment” activity. END
