ASEAN Ambassadors in The Hague Meet with Anti-Chemical Weapons Director General

THE HAGUE 29 January 2019 — ASEAN ambassadors in The Hague met with Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Director-General Fernando Arias González at the OPCW Headquarters on 15 January 2019.
The meeting was an opportunity for the OPCW and the ASEAN Committee in The Hague (ACTH) to discuss issues of common interest, including the proposed capability hub on chemical weapons in the ASEAN region, the need for continued capability building cooperation and awareness between ASEAN and the OPCW, and the increasing challenges in international and regional security.
Led by Thai Ambassador Eksiri Pintaruchi as the current ACTH Chair, the delegation was composed of Ambassadors to The Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda, Indonesian Ambassador I. Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, Malaysian Ambassador Dato’ Ahmad Nazri Yusof, Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Thi Hoa, and Singaporean Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister-Counsellor Ms. Koong Pai Ching.
This is the second meeting between the ACTH and the OPCW. The first was on 29 March 2017 with then Director-General Ahmet Üzümcü. END
