PH Consulate General in Calgary, PH Culinary Federation of Canada to Partner for Filipino Cuisine Festival

CALGARY 29 January 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary and the Philippine Culinary Federation of Canada (PCFC) met on 15 January 2019 to discuss the details of the Philippine Cuisine Festival in June 2019 as part of the month-long celebration of the Philippine Heritage Month in Canada.
The PCFC will take the lead in organizing the cuisine festival which will feature distinct Filipino dishes from various regions and provinces of the Philippines, as prepared by Filipino chefs in Calgary. The Consulate General will help promote the event.
Founded in 2015, PCFC is an organization of Filipino chefs, cooks and food service workers. It helps its members integrate in Canadian culinary industry. The group also promotes Philippine culinary and conducts activities to upgrade the skills of its members.
On 19 June 2017, the PCFC organized a Food Gala and Fundraiser event. The proceeds were donated to the Team Philippines for Ice Alaska 2018 and to the PCFC scholarships.
Consul General Gilberto Asuque welcomed the initiative of the PCFC and said that now is the right time to raise the profile of the Philippine cuisines in the Alberta as part of the effort in the celebration of Philippine Heritage Month to increase awareness of the significant contribution of Filipino-Canadians in Alberta to the province’s social, economic, cultural and historical richness.
