PH Turns Over ASEAN Committee in Mexico Chairmanship

MEXICO 29 January 2019 — Ambassador to Mexico Demetrio R. Tuason formally turned over the chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) to Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Nguyen Hoai in a brief ceremony on 16 January 2019 in Mexico City.

Ambassador Tuason gave a report on the accomplishment of the Philippines during its six-month chairmanship, such as the organization of the ASEAN Day in Mexico City on 08 August 2018 and the ASEAN Business Roadshow in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon from 15 to 16 October 2018. The roadshow included an ASEAN Business Forum, a courtesy call on the governor of the State of Guerrero, a visit to the Monterrey IT Park, and meetings with METALSA and COPAMEX. 

The ACMC, which is committed in further strengthening ASEAN´s relations with Mexico, rotates its chairmanship twice a year.  The chairmanship of Vietnam will run from January to June 2019. END
