SAN FRANCISCO 30 January 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco launched its latest program entitled “SPARK-BIZ, A Spark*Connect*Empower (SCE) Speaker and Networking Series” at the Philippine Center’s Social Hall on 15 January 2019.
PLDT, one of the pioneer partners of the SCE movement, was featured in the pilot event of SPARK-BIZ. PLDT’s First Vice President Victor Tria delivered a talk entitled “PLDT’s Prospectus on Nation Building.” FVP Tria shared that there are a number of reasons to be optimistic about the Philippines, including its high economic growth and a vast millennial job market which is attuned to digital technology, social media, and the gig-economy.
In his opening remarks, Consul General Henry S. Bensurto Jr., shared the Consulate General’s vision for SPARK-BIZ, which is to pique the interest of Filipino Americans on the growing number of Filipino businesses that have set up offices and operations in the United States.
It is hoped that a greater exposure to these businesses will encourage second-, third- and fourth- generation Filipino Americans to patronize these companies to ensure their sustained growth here in the United States. This could also pave the way for younger Filipino Americans to consider seeking career opportunities in Filipino companies and organizations, and for those looking for investment opportunities to consider Philippine businesses.
SPARK-BIZ is a speaker and networking series, which will highlight different Filipino companies in a wide array of industries. It provides a platform for Filipino companies in the Philippines and in the Bay Area to present their corporate values and objectives, products, activities and other initiatives, to the broader Filipino community. Business enterprises and organizations will also be invited to provide information and insights on doing business in the Philippines.
The event generated a positive response from the attendees and the Consulate General shall be organizing SPARK-BIZ as a quarterly event, to feature various companies in different industries. END
