OSLO 06 February 2019 – The five ambassadors of the ASEAN Committee in Oslo (ACO), including Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia, paid a courtesy call on Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide to discuss ASEAN-Norway relations on 14 January 2019.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the Priority Plan for ASEAN-Norway Sectoral Dialogue Partnership, which focuses on the following areas: peace, reconciliation and security, human rights, maritime and marine cooperation, energy, connectivity, initiative for ASEAN Integration, trade and private sector development including micro, small and medium enterprises, climate change and biodiversity, environmental protection, and people-to-people exchanges, including education and culture.
The meeting also served to brief Foreign Minister Søreide on the priorities of ASEAN under the 2019 chairmanship of Thailand.
The ACO is composed of the five ASEAN Embassies in Oslo—Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam—which meet regularly to discuss matters of common concern. END
