17 January 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Israel welcomed Ms. Rose “Osang” Fostanes, a Filipino caregiver and the grand winner of X Factor Israel on January 15.

During the visit, Philippine Ambassador to Israel Generoso D.G. Calonge awarded Ms. Fostanes a certificate of recognition for her achievement in the recently concluded talent show.  The Ambassador congratulated Ms. Fostanes, saying that her emergence as the first winner of X Factor Israel has made her country and fellow Filipinos proud.  He added that her participation and victory in the competition has proven once again how talented Filipinos are and promoted a positive image of the Philippines not only in Israel, but to the rest of the world.

Ms. Fostanes was more than delighted to receive the certificate.  She thanked the Philippine Embassy and her fellow Filipinos for their strong support throughout the competition.

The 47-year old Filipina came to Israel six years ago to work as a caregiver.  A friend encouraged Ms. Fostanes to join the X Factor Israel in October last year. She ended up bagging the top prize during the show’s final night on January 14.

Prior to Ms. Fostanes, a number of Filipinos in Israel joined and excelled in other competitions, particularly in the field of sports.  She is the latest in a list of kababayans who put the Philippines in the spotlight with her victory.  END
