COPENHAGEN 06 February 2019 – During Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark’s traditional New Year reception for the Diplomatic Corps at Copenhagen Christiansborg Palace, Ambassador to Norway and non-resident Ambassador to Denmark Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia greeted the Queen and wished her and the Royal Family a very Happy New Year.
Ambassdor Batoon-Garcia also greeted Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, who were also in attendance at the reception.
The event is one of several annual New Year affairs of the Danish Royal Family. On New Year’s Day, the Queen hosted the annual New Year gala dinner for government officials and members of the Royal Court at the Amalienborg Palace, home of the Danish Royal Family.
On 04 January 2019, the Queen rode a gold carriage from Amalienborg Palace to Christiansborg Palace escorted by the Guard Hussar Regiment Mounted Squadron. She was greeted very warmly by the Danish people.
Ambassador Batoon-Garcia was accompanied by her spouse, Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Evan P. Garcia. She wore a hand-embroidered piña baro and tapis over a black and gold brocade skirt, topped by a Pidayit panuelo made by fashion designer Philip Dizon Torres of Angeles City. END
