PH Ambassador to Norway Bids Farewell to PH Honorary Consul in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN 06 February 2019 — Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia hosted a farewell reception with friends in the Danish diplomatic and business circles on 07 January 2019, in honor of long-time Philippine Honorary Consul General in Copenhagen Poul Krogh.

Ambassador Batoon-Garcia lauded Honorary Consul General Krogh’s contributions in advancing Philippines-Denmark political and economic relations. The Ambassador also recognized the Honorary Consulate’s tireless assistance to Filipinos in distress in Denmark over the years.

A Certificate of Appreciation from then Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter s. Cayetano was presented to Honorary Consul General Krogh in June 2018, in recognition of his 10 years of service to the Filipino Community in Denmark.

Ambassador Batoon-Garcia also hosted a farewell reception to thank Danish government officials and the business community for the support that they had extended to the Honorary Consulate.

Mr. Krogh, a successful businessman in Denmark, has held the position of Philippine Honorary Consul General in Copenhagen since 18 November 2008.

Attendees at the reception were also introduced to Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General and Chargé d’Affaires, a.i.  Ma. Antonina Mendoza-Oblena of the newly-established Philippine Embassy in Copenhagen.

With the opening an Embassy in Copenhagen this January, Ambassador Batoon-Garcia will cease to be the country’s non-resident Ambassador to Denmark. She will continue to hold jurisdiction over Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden as the country’s top envoy. END
