Filipino Delicacies Featured at 14th Lao Food Festival

VIENTIANE 13 February 2019 – Filipino snack items such as crispy anchovies, crispy squid, mango kernels, chichacorn, and Malagos dark chocolate were featured by the Philippine Embassy in Vientiane in the 14th Lao Food Festival at Chao Anouvong Park in Vientiane, Laos on 23-26 January 2019.

In cooperation with the Office of the Special Agriculture Representative based in Bangkok and the Philippine Department of Agriculture’s Agribusiness Development Center, the Embassy showcased Filipino food products and cuisine, and promoted Philippine tourism by decorating its booth with Philippine-made handicrafts, It’s More Fun in the Philippines posters, and gave away tourism brochures.

Filipino community members in Vientiane also sold Filipino food items such as tocilog and tapsilog, as well as merienda items like halo-halo, maja blanca, ube halaya, pandesal, and pan de coco, among others.

The Lao Businesswomen’s Association (LBWA) expressed its appreciation for the Embassy’s continuing participation in the food festival.

The 14th Lao Food Festival is an annual event organized by the Lao Women’s Union in collaboration with the LBWA. The event, which was participated in by business entities in the food and beverage market, Embassies in Lao PDR, and other business enterprises selling non-food products, aims to promote Lao culture, cuisine and handicrafts, as well as female entrepreneurs.
