16 January 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen and Fujian Province in China committed to enhance cooperation during a courtesy call of the officials of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government’s Foreign Affairs Office (FAO), led by Deputy Director General Hu Chang Chun, on Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores on 03 December 2013 at the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.
Consul General Flores underscored to Deputy Director General Hu that the former’s mandate is to ensure that the long-standing friendly relations between the Philippines and China are further cultivated and that the presence of the Philippines will be markedly felt in Fujian province through future collaborative undertakings with Fujian FAO.
The Consul General welcomed the proposal of Fujian FAO to pursue a possible partnership with a Philippine province and committed to provide assistance in helping Fujian FAO determine the appropriate Philippine provincial partner.
Furthermore, at the dinner hosted by the Fujian FAO, Consul General Flores welcomed the proposed establishment of a Four-Party Mechanism that would further boost ties among the consular missions of relations among the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand in Xiamen and Fujian provinceProvince. The Consulate is committed to participate in further discussions on the proposed undertakings for 2014, including media visits to China.
