PH Ambassador, Filipino Businessmen Discuss Creation of Chamber of Commerce in Singapore

SINGAPORE 12 February 2019 – Ambassador to Singapore Joseph Del Mar Yap and representatives of 17 Filipino-owned businesses discussed the prospect of creating a Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Singapore on 24 January 2019.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Philippine companies Afreight, Ayala Land, BDO Unibank, Churreria La Lola, Excent One, HFSE International School, Human Nature and Greenpicks, Jollibee, LBC Express, Manulife, Megaworld, Noble Life, Paso Fino Consulting, PLDT Global, Potato Corner, Prime Food Marketing, and Vista Land.

Business representatives agreed that a Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Singapore would strengthen the relations among member businesses and help promote business interests.

Ambassador Yap encouraged Filipino-owned businesses to work together and consolidate their efforts to move forward on the creation of the Chamber. The Ambassador added that the creation of a Philippine Chamber of Commerce in the country would be timely as 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Philippine-Singapore bilateral relations.

A working committee was set up to work on the next steps in establishing the Chamber. END
