ISLAMABAD 14 February 2019 – Ambassador to Pakistan Daniel R. Espiritu promoted Philippine trade and investment opportunities as well as culture and education to boost Pakistan-Philippines relations to Pakistani officials and businessmen.

Ambassador Espiritu was tendered to a dinner reception by the Economic Council-Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EC-EFP) Chairman Ismail Suttar, Honorary Consul General and Patron of Pakistan-Philippines Business Forum (PPBF) Imran Y. Muhammad, PPBF President-South Mehmood Arshad and PPBF President-North Fahdel Sheikh on 28 January 2019.

He briefed the business community on investment and trade opportunities that could boost cooperation between the two countries.

During the event, the Ambassador also witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the PPBF and EC-EFP.

On 29 January 2019, he served as the chief guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Karachi’s meeting where he highlighted the country’s economic growth in the past five years

The Ambassador also briefed the audience on how the Philippines continued to grow above six percent in gross domestic product despite having a big trade deficit by focusing equally on investment promotions, remittances and business process outsourcing.

Rotary Club Acting President Shehzad Qureshi thanked the Ambassador for his continued efforts to enhance the two countries’ relationship and presented him with the plaque of appreciation.

In his efforts to promote the Philippines in the cultural and educational front, Ambassador Espiritu also spoke at English Speaking Union of Pakistan (ESUP) that day and explained the significance of English language in the history of the Philippines and how it helped the country in many different aspects of life.

The Ambassador said that the Philippines is the fourth largest English speaking country in the world with a 98 percent literacy rate, which makes it an ideal destination for investments, tourism, trade and education, and source of global deployment of professionals and skilled labor. END
