PARIS 15 February 2019 – Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro met with key officials of the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) or the French National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations on 08 February 2019.

INALCO is one of the important French higher education institutions with traditional links to the Philippines with its Filipino (Tagalog) language program established in 1965. It also offers classes in Ilocano and Cebuano with a growing number of French students taking the courses.

Ms. Franck headed the delegation of French higher educational institutions and represented the Conference of University Presidents to the first and third Rectors’ and Joint Committee Meeting to implement the MOU on Higher Education and Research in 2016 and 2018 in the Philippines.

Ambassador Lazaro also congratulated INALCO Vice Chancellor François Huchet for his appointment as the incoming INALCO President.  An expert on China, Mr. Huchet expressed his willingness to continue the close cooperation between INALCO and the Philippines to enhance bilateral cooperation in higher education and research.
