PH Embassy in Manama Joins First Int’l Cultural Festival

MANAMA CULTURAL FEST 1

MANAMA 15 February 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama, together with  the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, joined the first International Cultural Festival held at the Royal University for Women campus in Riffa, Bahrain on 10 February 2018.

The festival featured cultural presentations, cooking demonstrations, and a fashion show to present the traditional clothing of participating nations. The Embassy stall featured Philippine handicrafts and food items, as well as Mama Sita products and free recipe booklets.

The Embassy also participated in a fashion show and provided entertainment through the  Philippine School Bahrain Banyuhay Dance Troupe which performed tinikling and waray waray.  Its Chorale performed a collection of Filipino songs.

The event was organized by the Royal University for Women in collaboration with ASEAN Bahrain Council under the patronage of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa. The other participating countries included Bahrain, Palestine, Egypt, Korea, and Yemen.

The opening ceremony was led by Royal University for Women President Dr. David Stewart, ASEAN Bahrain Council Chairman Shaikh Daij Bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Undersecretary of Manama Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and Shaikha Rana Bint Isa al Khalifa. END
