20 January 2013 – The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka conducted a consular outreach mission from January 11 to 12 at the Oita Prefectural Culture Center, Oita City in the southern Japanese island of Kyushu. The consular outreach mission was organized with the cooperation of the Oita Philippines Friendship Association headed by its coordinator, Ms. Rhodora Yoshitake.
The Consulate processed a total of 280 applications for consular services with 254 e-Passport applications and 47 notarials, authentication, Report of Birth, Report of Marriage and other miscellaneous services.
Consultations were also conducted with regard to marriages, judicial recognition of divorce, and other consular documents-related concerns.
Oita, both a city and a prefecture, is located in the southern island of Kyushu which is home to some 10,000 Filipino nationals.
The Consulate’s outreach program seeks to reach out and bring its services to the 80,000 Filipinos under its jurisdiction in Western Japan. Oita is the first of seven consular outreach missions scheduled for this year. It is estimated that some 3,500 Filipinos will benefit from the program in 2014.
