PH Ambassador to South Africa Calls on Mozambique President

PRETORIA 15 February 2019 – Ambassador to South Africa Joseph Gerard B. Angeles called on Mozambique President Felipe Jacinto Nyusi to discuss matters of interest between the two countries at the Palacio da Ponta Vermelha in Maputo on 23 January 2019.

Ambassador Angeles highlighted to President Nyusi recent developments in the economic front that have dramatically improved the business relationships between the two countries. He noted the astounding success of the first-ever Business Matching Mission, composed of accomplished businessmen from the Philippines, which visited Mozambique last September 2018 that identified different opportunities for trade between the two countries.

President Nyusi thanked Ambassador Angeles for his tremendous efforts in promoting excellent relations between the two countries, and expressed delight in the burgeoning trade between the the two countries.

Ambassador Angeles, accompanied by Philippine Honorary Consul to Mozambique Donald Tulcidas, also held a meeting with the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA).

He again highlighted the success of the Philippine Business Matching Mission and stated that the Philippine Embassy in Pretoria is working closely with Honorary Consul Tulcidas and the Department of Trade and Industry in promoting trade between the two countries.

CTA President Agostinho Vuma welcomed the developments and expressed CTA’s great interest and commitment to organize a Business Mission to the Philippines by April. No less that the Mozambican Minister of Trade has been invited to head the Business Mission to the Philippines. END
