PH Embassy in Moscow Explores Moscow Dive Show 2019 Exhibits

MOSCOW 16 February 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Moscow attended the Moscow Dive Show 2019 at Sokolniki Exhibition Center on 31 January 2019 to view the latest and most exciting offerings on tour and diving packages, equipment and trainings in water-based sports in Russia and former Soviet states.

“Our primary objective at the Moscow Dive Show was to look at possible opportunities for our country to promote dive tourism as well as to assess the overall market in Russia, Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The Moscow Dive Show is the epicenter when it comes to diving enthusiasts from these countries,” Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta said.

Ambassador Sorreta and officials from the Embassy’s Economic Section were welcomed by Mr. Klim Kolosov, one of the organizers of Moscow Dive Show and, and Editor-in-Chief of “Ultimate Depth” magazine.

Mr. Kolosov gave them a comprehensive tour of the exhibition. As an experienced diver who has been to the top dive spots in the world, he also discussed the great potentials for Philippine dive tourism and introduced Ambassador Sorreta to a number of Russian divers who regularly choose the Philippines. 

The Ambassador also met with representatives of “Deluna” and “Kurort Atmosphera” or Atmosphere Resort, two resorts offering diving and tourism packages to the Philippines.

“This exhibition is indeed an excellent opportunity to promote the best diving destinations in the Philippines to a curious and highly enthusiastic market. I hope that more Philippine companies can participate next year,” Ambassador Sorreta said, adding “the Embassy will continue to aggressively promote Philippine dive tourism.

Aside from viewing a photo exhibit that included photos taken at Philippine dive spots, Embassy officials also viewed exhibits on underwater and diving equipment, diving packages in various destinations such as Indonesia, Egypt, Thailand, and Papua New Guinea, water tourism activities, underwater photography exhibits and the latest innovations on river and sea transportation.

The Moscow Dive Show is held annually and is regarded as one of the most respected and effective platforms to promote diving and water-based activities in different destinations throughout the world. END
