PH Diplomats Join Russia’s Celebration of Diplomats’ Day

MOSCOW 18 February 2019 – Officials from the Philippine Embassy in Moscow, Third Secretaries and Vice Consuls Mary Grace L. Perpetua and Catherine F. Alpay, joined over a hundred representatives of the diplomatic corps in Moscow to celebrate Diplomats’ Day through a concert and exhibition organized by the Council of Young Diplomats (CYD) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia.
Diplomats’ Day, which was held on 07 February 2019, was graced by the International Affairs Committee Chairman of the Russian State Duma Leonid Slutsky.
The event featured winners of the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians from various countries, as well as the exhibition of works by students from the Academy and School of Watercolor of Sergei Andriyaka. At the end of the concert, all performers were presented to the audience as “Young Talents – Ambassadors for Peace.”
“The event was a great opportunity for us to get together with fellow members of the diplomatic corps to appreciate wonderful music while celebrating Russian Diplomats’ Day with our counterparts from the Russia MFA,” Third Secretary and Vice Consul Perpetua said.
The celebration of Russian Diplomats’ Day was established in 2002 to commemorate the founding of the Russian Diplomatic Service in 1549. It is celebrated every 10th of February. END
