VIENNA 19 February 2019 — Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe Natividad presented the open copy of her letter of credence as non-resident Ambassador to the Slovak Republic on 30 January 2019 to Political Director General Marián Jakubócy of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFEA) of Slovakia.

Following the ceremony at the MFEA Headquarters in Batislava, Ambassador Natividad and Director General Jakubócy held a brief but meaningful dialogue on the future of Philippine-Slovak bilateral relations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the countries’ political and economic ties through more active engagements in the fields of labor, trade, culture, education, and people-to-people cooperation.

Of particular interest to the Philippines was the information provided by Jakubócy that Slovak companies have expressed interest in hiring Filipinos to augment Slovakia’s dwindling labor force. The Ambassador assured the MFEA official that the Embassy will work closely with relevant Philippine and Slovak authorities on this matter.

After the meeting at MFEA, Ambassador Natividad also touched base with the office of Mr. Pavol Konstiak, the Philippine Honorary Consul to Slovakia, to explore possible ways of realizing the points raised in the discussion with the foreign ministry. END
