PHOTO: The Australian Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) conducted a seminar on worker and workplace rights for Philippine Embassy in Canberra personnel at the Embassy grounds on 12 February 2019.

Personnel from the FWO offices in Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne, led by Director for Policy Rachelle Loosen, discussed salient details on basic workplace rights, compliance and enforcement policies, and Fair Work Ombudsman tools and resources for migrant workers.

Ambassador Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega welcomed the opportunity for the Embassy to better understand the mandate of the Fair Work Ombudsman and the scope of assistance it could provide to Filipinos in the Australian workplace, including temporary workers and those holding student visas.

The Embassy intends to share the information provided by the FWO on workplace rights and worker resources during its meetings with the Filipino Communities all over Australia, as well as during the scheduled Post-Arrival Orientation Seminars for Filipino workers and students throughout the year.
