PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to Yemeni President

RIYADH 19 February 2019 – Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan V. Alonto presented his Letter of Credence to Yemen President Abdrabbu Mansur Hadi at the Conference Palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 17 February 2019.
Ambassador Alonto conveyed the cordial greetings of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and extended wishes of peace, prosperity, and good health to the government and people of Yemen.
Ambassador Alonto then highlighted the strong relations between the Philippines and Yemen, manifested by the contributions of Filipino workers to Yemen’s health and petroleum industry and Yemen’s staunch support to Philippine candidatures in the United Nations and other international bodies, particularly the Philippines’ bid for Observer Status in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation as well as to the peaceful resolution of the armed conflict in Mindanao.
The Ambassador expressed commiseration for the sufferings of the Yemeni people brought about by the ongoing armed conflict in the country. He assured President Hadi that the Philippines stands ready to partner with Yemen in rebuilding its economy once the peace and order situation in the country stabilizes.
The Ambassador also presented President Hadi the humble donation of the Philippine government for those affected by Tropical Cyclone Luban in Yemen last year, expressing hope that the affected families and individuals have already recovered from the devastation, and that Yemen will no longer suffer the ravages of such calamities.
Ambassador Alonto committed to exert great efforts to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Philippines and Yemen through constant engagement and cooperation in matters of mutual interests. END
