WELLINGTON 19 February 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Wellington rendered its first mobile consular services in Auckland, the region where there is growing number and largest concentration of Filipinos, at the Independent Living Services Charitable Trust in Auckland on 7-11 February 2019.

The mission processed a total of 1,201 consular transactions comprising passport application or renewal, civil registration (reports of births and marriages), notarial services, fingerprinting for National Bureau of Investigation forms, and Philippine citizenship retention, re-acquisition and application.

During this outreach, the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Auckland provided notarial/legal and fingerprinting services at the same venue. Individual free legal advice was also offered by Honorary Vice Consul Randell Oneal Mendoza to interested Filipino migrants on several essential issues such as buying and selling of property or business, commercial leasing, employment disputes, immigration, preparing a will, relationship/family disputes and setting up a family trust.

The Filipino Community in Auckland and neighboring areas, including those in the Northland, Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions, expressed their appreciation to Ambassador to New Zealand Jesus S. Domingo and to the Embassy mobile consular team led by Consul Glenn Joseph Q. Obach as this provided them access to the Embassy’s services without the need to travel to Wellington.

The outreach was also an opportunity for the Embassy to strengthen its linkages with the Filipino Community, and to respond to various consular and related inquiries.

Details of succeeding mobile consular missions are posted on the Embassy website (www.philembassy.org.nz) and on Facebook (Philippine Embassy - Wellington, New Zealand). END
