Brunei Fire and Rescue Dep’t Discuss Safety, Well-Being of Filipinos in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 21 February 2019 – To discuss fire and beach safety awareness for the benefit of Filipino nationals in Brunei, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jaybee B. Arguillas, along with other Embassy officials, met with Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD) Acting Director Lim Hock Guan and other BFRD officers at the Philippine Embassy in Brunei on 18 February 2019.
BFRD conveyed that they are meeting with the Philippine and Indonesian Embassies as Filipinos and Indonesians are the two nationalities in Brunei with large number of population next to Chinese residents.
The agency also proposed to conduct a briefing on fire and beach safety awareness for members of the Filipino community in the second week of March this year before the start of the school break, where Filipinos are expected to flock to the beaches to spend their holiday.
Vice Consul Arguillas welcomed BFRD’s proposal and conveyed the Embassy’s full support to the activity which aims at providing information on fire prevention and rescue as well as beach safety to avoid drowning incidents.
Other BFRD officers present during the meeting included Assistant Director Hjh Siti Mayang bin Haji Hussin, Public Relations Officer Act. ASFR Andi Karmila Waty bte Haji Abdul Karim, and Public Relations Officer SO Ak Mohd Ali Rahman bin Pg Hj Salleh.
Vice Consul Arguillas expressed her appreciation to Director Lim Hock Guan for their fruitful exchange on the promotion of safety and well-being of Filipinos in Brunei. END
