San Francisco Treasurer Talk Kicks Off San Francisco Consular Corps Meet for 2019

SAN FRANCISCO 21 February 2019 – The San Francisco Consular Corps (SFCC) convened at the Fairmont Hotel for its monthly luncheon on 12 February 2019, where it welcomed San Francisco Treasurer Jose Cisneros for a talk and an open forum.
Consul General Henry S. Bensurto Jr., who is the current Dean of the Consular Corps, presided over the meeting and formally welcomed the SFCC in its first official meeting in 2019. He also formally introduced the guest speaker and moderated the open forum afterwards.
During his talk, Mr. Cisneros explained his dual functions as Treasurer and Tax Collector for San Francisco. He also presented his office’s improvements such as a fully automated processing system to facilitate a smoother revenue collection, as well as its social initiatives, which include the opening of bank accounts for San Francisco public school students to serve as their college savings fund.
SFCC is a gathering of all consular officials represented in the Bay Area, and holds regular meetings to discuss topics of mutual concern and interest. The next meeting of the SFCC is scheduled in March 2019. END
