PH Embassy Attends Valentine’s Celebration of Filipinos in Syria

DAMASCUS 22 February 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Damascus, headed by Charge d’Affairesn (CDA), e.p. and Consul General Alex V. Lamadrid, attended the first ever Valentine’s ball and coronation of Miss Valentine 2019 organized by Samahan ng mga Filipino sa Syria (SAMAFIL), the newly organized Filipino community umbrella organization in Syria, held at Blue Tower Hotel in Damascus on 17 February 2019.

In his remarks, CDA Lamadrid, lauded the officers and members of the new organization for their hard work in making the celebration a success. He encouraged them to support the activities and projects of the organization for the welfare of its members.

The Valentine’s activity, attended by more than a hundred guests, served as SAMAFIL’s fundraising for future projects of the organization.

Crowned as 2019 Miss SAMAFIL Valentine was Jacklyn Tustado Yamson, with Hayati Abdullah (first runner-up), Josephine Dio (second runner-up), Analyn Malintad (third runner-up), and Rosalia Duray (fourth runner-up) rounding up the rest of the winners.

CDA Lamadrid rallied them to embrace positivity in their dealings with one another to avoid misunderstandings that usually lead to factions and animosity among members of the community.

SAMAFIL advisor Reymund De Leon expressed his gratitude on behalf of the organization and its members, for the Embassy’s support. Mr. De Leon, along with the organization’s treasurer, likewise reported on the financial status of SAMAFIL. END
