TOKYO 22 February 2019 – Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V received a 40-member delegation from the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) at a courtesy call at the Embassy on 19 January 2019.
Composed of officials from the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Philippine Coast Guard, the delegation is visiting Tokyo for their Foreign Academic Study (FASt), under the auspices of the Master in Public Safety Administration (MPSA) from 16 to 20 January 2019.
While in Tokyo, the delegation will have briefings at various institutions in Japan, such as the Tokyo Fire Department, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) among others. The program also includes site visits to the Japan Coast Guard Museum in Yokohama and to the MPD Traffic Control Center and Police Museum.
FASt is a capacity building activity which aims to strengthen skills through exposure to global models and to the multi-dimensional nature of public safety and security systems in the Asia-Pacific. MPSA students hope to expand and obtain comprehensive, strategic and global outlook on public safety and governance by participating in this activity. END
