JAKARTA 22 February 2019 – Highlighting the reputation of the Philippines in the region and around the world as a world-class and cost effective source for professional human resource and manpower training and development for the service industry, Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong T. Wee attended the launching of PT Alpha Magsaysay International (AMI) and PT Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA) International Indonesia in Jakarta on 16 February 2019.
PT MIHCA International Indonesia is an international training center of the Magsaysay Group of Companies—a Filipino owned company with four branches in the Philippines and one in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was established in 2007 and its training program involves 80 percent hands-on-training and 20 percent classroom type lectures to prepare trainees to enter the workforce.
The company prides itself in its state-of-the-art training facilities, amenities and equipment and collaboration with global partners and successfully placing its graduates in deluxe hotels and luxury cruise lines the world over.
Meanwhile, PT AMI is a human resources company that recruits and places its Indonesian hospitality workforce graduates on-board cruise ships worldwide. Currently, the company places over 5,000 of its hospitality graduates to its cruise ship clients all over the world.
The event highlighted the growing Philippines-Indonesia trade and business ties that have been beneficial to both countries. The Philippines and Indonesia are “natural partners” given the many similarities, shared culture and history and geographical proximity to each other.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of Philippines-Indonesia bilateral relations and the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta is confident that more such joint endeavors will materialize in the near future. END
