Chongqing food companies

24 January 2014- Philippine processed food companies made headway in western China with their participation in the 18th Sichuan Chinese New Year Shopping Festival and Import Fair which ran from January 11 to 18.

Their participation started strongly with a Philippine Product Promotions Seminar attended by Chinese government officials, journalists, traders and the general public on the festival’s opening day. Consul General Ma. Amelita C. Aquino from the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing and Mr. Li Weimin, Deputy Director General of the Sichuan Department of Commerce gave the opening remarks. Ms. Cynthia Ricafort, Director of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Shanghai spoke of Philippines-China trade relations followed by presentations by representatives of Philippine processed food companies on their companies and products.

This Philippine pavilion comprised of 12 booths showcasing various product such as dried fruits, pasta, snack foods, peanuts, cashews, pili nuts, coconut milk, nata de coco, quick-cooking & instant oats, biscuits, polvoron, canned sardines and mackerel, virgin coconut oil, coco sugar, natural fruit jams and other Philippine specialties.

This aggressive marketing move was made to introduce the best of Philippine processed food products to the vast and rapidly-developing western China region.

The Philippines companies were organized and led by Mr. Edwin Go, Managing Director of Mabuhay OFW (Macau) Ltd. The participating companies were:  Vermedes Inc. (makers of R&M Dried Mangoes), Ideal Macaroni & Spaghetti Factory, Universal Canning Inc. (makers of Master & Family Sardines), Magic Melt Foods Inc., Gem Foods International, Castillejos Agri-farms, RFM Corporation, MFP House of Quality Foods (makers of HOP polvoron), TMI Food Processing & Dev’t Inc., Pasciolco Agriventures, Edelyn Homemade Nuts, and M Lhuillier Food Products.
