PH Ambassador Lauds Top Russian Sculptor’s Contribution to Building Closer Ties

MOSCOW 28 February 2019 – Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta lauded the contribution of top Russian sculptor Grigory Pototsky to building greater understanding between the peoples of Russia and the Philippines through his art during the sculptor’s birthday celebration on 17 February 2019.

Ambassador Sorreta highlighted Mr. Pototsky’s contribution by saying, “Through his art, his talent, his creativity and speaking through his sculptures, Mr. Pototsky has helped the Filipino people better appreciate and understand the Russian people, their culture and society,” adding “by doing this he has greatly aided in bringing our two peoples closer and strengthened the ties between our two countries. For this we are very grateful.”

Over the past 20 years, Mr. Pototsky donated seven of his works to the Filipino people which can be found in different places throughout the Philippines.

His donated works were sculptures of Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Jose Rizal, St. John of Shanghai, St. Ezequiel Moreno y Diaz, and his famous “Dandelion” symbol of peace and kindness. Mr. Pototsky is the founder of the International Academy of Kindness.

Among the guests at the sculptor’s birthday celebration where prominent artists, poets, composers, writers, journalists, diplomats and government officials. The event was held at the Immanuel Vitorgan Cultural Center. END
