PH Ambassador in France Calls On Montpellier Mayor

PHOTO: Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro was warmly welcomed by Montpellier Mayor Philippe Saurel during the Ambassador’s courtesy call at the City Hall of Montpellier on 22 February 2019.

Mayor Saurel is also the President of the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, which has jurisdiction over 500,000 inhabitants spread over 31 cities and communes.

The Mayor said that Montpellier is one of the most dynamic cities in France with high concentration of creative industries and a strong scientific cluster to foster innovations and incubate start-ups.

Ambassador Lazaro said that the Philippines is keen on enhancing economic and educational linkages with the city.

Both sides agreed to seek closer ties, including establishing possible sister-city arrangement with a city in the Philippines in the future. (Paris PE photo)
