Agana

27 January 2014- The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam joined the Governor’s Commission on National and Community Service and the Serve Guam Commission by putting up an information booth on Human Trafficking, during the “Day of Service” held on January 20 at the Agana Shopping Center.

The event was held as part of the Guam Government’s commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, in honor of the said civil rights leader, and as part of the activities for January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

The Consulate was glad to join the event to highlight and inform the public on the efforts of the Philippine government to promote awareness and address the issue of human trafficking. Consul Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian and the staff of the Consulate were in attendance to reply to queries and distribute relevant materials on human trafficking to the public.

Primers on human trafficking and copies of the Republic Act No. 9208 or Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 were disseminated during the event. END
