MANAMA 04 March 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Manama organized a health and wellness forum entitled “SweetHeart: Managing our Sugar and Taking Care of our Hearts”, which was held at the Embassy lobby on 21 February 2019.
A total of 105 attendees from various Filipino organizations in Bahrain including Embassy employees, Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and Pag-IBIG/Social Security System personnel joined the forum.
The forum was conducted by Dr. Kenneth Joseph Virador, a Filipino doctor who is presently practicing his profession at the American Mission Hospital.
Dr. Virador’s discussion focused on the seven habits essential to keeping a healthy heart. These include avoiding smoking, being physically active, having a healthy diet, keeping a healthy weight, keeping one’s blood pressure normal, keeping the cholesterol level normal, and maintaining one’s blood sugar to a normal level.
The Embassy, through its partner group composed of volunteer nurses, also provided free vital signs and blood sugar consultation at the start of the forum. END
