PH, Syria Discuss Anti-Trafficking Agreement

PHOTO: Charge d’Affaires, e.p. and Consul General Alex V. Lamadrid called on Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Director of Asia Department Shafik Dayoub to discuss the proposed anti-human trafficking agreement between the Philippines and Syria, and other issues of bilateral concern.

Director Dayoub informed Charge d’Affaires Lamadrid that the proposed agreement is currently under consideration by various government agencies.

Charge d’Affaires Lamadrid expressed the Philippine Government’s hope to curb cases of trafficking in persons in Syria through mutual cooperation with the Syrian Government, which, like the Philippines, is a signatory to the Palermo Protocol and Marrakesh Commitment or the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
