PH Consulate General in Dubai Hosts Reception for Gulfood Expo Delegates

DUBAI 07 March 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai hosted a reception for Trade and Industry Undersecretary Abdulgani Macatoman, the Philippine outbound business mission to Kuwait, the Region V Delegation, and the 51 companies participating in the annual Gulfood Expo 2019 at the Consulate General’s Rizal Hall on 17 February 2019.
The event was attended by some 100 guests, including Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso Ferdinand Ver and the officers of the Philippine Business Council (PBC) Dubai.
In his welcome remarks, Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes reiterated the Consulate General’s full support to the Philippine food manufacturers in their efforts to penetrate not just the UAE market but the entire Gulf region and even beyond.
Undersecretary Macatoman underscored that more Philippine products can be expected to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a result of successful business meetings of the 51 Philippine companies that visited the UAE on a business matching mission and as Gulfood exhibitors. He said that the Department of Trade and Industry is seeking to further expand the presence of Philippine products in the GCC market, particularly to promote the export of halal products.
Ambassador Ver noted the importance of the participation of the Philippine Missions in the GCC region as part of the total Philippine effort to promote its products and services in the Gulf region.
PBC Chairman Marian Carella also disclosed the PBC’s plan to organize a Food Festival event this year to promote Filipino cuisine. END
