04 February 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Minda Calaguian-Cruz was honored by the Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (HOME) during graduation rites at the HOME Academy last January 19 at the Singapore NTUC Auditorium where she was the guest of honor.

The honor was given to Ambassador Cruz for her wholehearted support for HOME’s advocacies to protect the rights of foreign workers in Singapore and in its thrust against trafficking in persons during her tenure in Singapore both as Philippine Ambassador and as Consul General that spans almost a decade.

In her remarks, HOME Founder and CEO Bridget Tan said that Ambassador Cruz’s consistent presence and support to HOME since it was founded in 2004 have been constant sources of inspiration that help encourage the organization to strive even further in its efforts to assist foreign workers.

Ambassador Cruz, for her part, praised HOME’s noble thrust of not only helping foreign workers in distressing situations but also in empowering them with new knowledge and skills through the skills development programs offered at HOME Academy. She also commended HOME for its fund-raising activities for victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

Ambassador Cruz congratulated the 537 graduates of HOME Academy and challenged them to make use of their newly-acquired skills in pursuing self-improvement with the sense of responsibility towards family and society always in their minds. END
