PH Embassy in Paris Enhances Ties with UniLaSalle Beauvais

PARIS 11 March 2019 – Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro met with top officials of UniLaSalle, a leading private engineering school at its campus in Beauvais, to discuss the school’s ongoing activities in the Philippines and explore ways to enhance the cooperation on 04 March 2019.

UniLaSalle is one of the largest private engineering schools in France offering degrees in agriculture, food industry, food and health, environmental studies, and geology

“The Philippines is a prominent and important part of the international network of La Salle educational institutions and we hope to continue our strong cooperation with the Philippines,” said UniLaSalle President Philippe Choquet. 

Ambassador Lazaro recognized that important impact and contribution of the De La Salle network of schools in the development of educational system in the Philippines since the early 20th century.

Director of International Relations and Director of UniLaSalle-Rouen campus Dr. Marie Lummerzheim said that as part of the “Go La Salle Project,” 50 French students from UniLaSalle spent a semester in 2018 in partner Philippine institutions such as De La Salle University Manila, College of Saint Benilde, De La Salle-Araneta University, and De La Salle Dasmariñas.

Because of the success of the project’s first batch, Dr. Lummerzheim revealed that there may be as much as a 50 percent increase in the second batch of students going to the Philippines in 2019. 

Ambassador Lazaro and UniLaSalle officials also discussed ways to enhance cooperation, including the possibility of partnering with other higher educational institutions in the Philippines that are strong in agriculture and the life sciences as well as executive education for agriculture practitioners.
