01 February 2014 - Officials and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Brunei led by Ambassador Nestor Ochoa and Madame Mayie Ochoa joined a charity walkathon organized by the Ministry of Education for the benefit of victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines. The charity walkathon was held last January 26 near the new Ministry of Education Building in Berakas.
An estimated 600 people, composed mostly of staff from the Ministry of Education and members of their families, students, and personnel of the Philippine Embassy braved the inclement weather to participate in the event.
Pehin Dato Haji Abu Bakar, the Minister of Education, was the guest of honor during the activity.
The event began with an aerobics session which was followed immediately by the charity walkathon. At the conclusion of the charity walkathon, a car boot sale was held wherein a variety of food and novelty items were sold. END
