MALÉ 12 March 2019 — Ambassador to Bangladesh and non-resident Ambassador to Maldives Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo called on newly-appointed Maldives Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed on 06 March 2019 to discuss the growing relations between the Philippines and Maldives.

Among other issues of mutual concern, Ambassador Bandillo brought up the subject of the several draft bilateral agreements which he hoped would be signed with Maldives within the year. These include agreements on labor which would address concerns of overseas Filipino workers in Maldives, and on health cooperation which would include Maldives as a work destination for Philippine doctors, nurses and other professionals in the medical field.

The Ambassador also called on Additional Secretary on Multilateral Affairs Javed Faizal to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the international arena. END
